Oral
maxillofacial surgeons are dentists specializing
in surgery of the mouth, face and jaws.
Oral surgeons receive an extra four to
seven years of hospital-based surgical
and medical training, after dental school.
They prepare themselves to do a wide range
of procedures including all types of surgery
of the hard tissue (bones) and soft
tissues of the face,
mouth and neck. Dr. DeFelice practices a full
scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with
emphasis to dental implants (bone grafts/sinus
lifts), wisdom teeth removal, teeth extraction,
oral pathology, and select facial cosmetic
procedures.

Dr. DeFelice
can also diagnose and treat facial trauma
and infections. Dr.
DeFelice is trained, skilled and uniquely
qualified to manage and treat facial
trauma. He is on staff at Scottsdale Healthcare
(Osborn), a level one trauma center, and
delivers emergency room coverage for facial
injuries, which include but are not limited
to the following conditions: facial lacerations,
intra oral lacerations, avulsed (knocked
out) teeth, fractured facial bones (cheek,
nose or eye socket) and fractured jaws
(upper and lower jaw).
