IMPLANTS:

Advances in dental science allow your oral surgeon to place artificial tooth roots which fuse with the jawbone to form a secure foundation for tooth replacement. This process can be completed to replace a single tooth, several teeth or to anchor an existing denture for more stability and function.
The benefits of dental implants:

  • Improve appearance
• Improve comfort and speech
• Eat what you want
• Smile with confidence
• Maintain a healthy mouth
• Preserve bone
• Improve self esteem
BONE GRAFTING: This procedure is usually required prior to and in anticipation of future dental implant placement. Dr. DeFelice will consult with you on the various treatment options available.
WISDOM TEETH: Most people start getting their third molars (wisdom teeth) when they reach their late teens or early twenties. In many cases, the jaws are not large enough to accommodate these teeth and they remain under the gum (impacted). We will consult with you about the necessity, surgical risks and benefits, and anesthesia options.
EXTRACTIONS: Teeth may need to be removed for a variety of reasons. These can include, decay, periodontal disease, crowding, trauma and failed restorative treatment. Most patients are referred for this treatment. We can discuss these previous decisions and give you options for treatment.
BIOPSIES: Occasionally, abnormal appearing tissue can present itself in the mouth. This may be found on incidental exam by your dentist or by the patient. A history of tobacco use may warrant your dentist referring you to an Oral Surgeon. A biopsy of the tissue may be required to get a definitive diagnosis.
ANESTHESIA: Most patients are apprehensive and anxious about going to the dentist or oral surgeons office. Oral Surgeons are not only specialists in dealing with problems of the mouth, teeth and jaws, but also are experienced in dealing with the control of pain and anxiety. At Desert Ridge Implant & Oral Surgery Dr. DeFelice is highly trained in anesthetic techniques and is board certified.
We offer local anesthesia in conjunction with:

• Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas)
• Oral sedation (very effective in children)
• IV sedation
• General anesthesia
Based on the procedure to be performed, Dr. DeFelice will guide you as to the best choice to alleviate your anxiety while maximizing your comfort level.
